Immigrants in the U.S. are prime targets for Country-of-Origin manufacturerswith some adjustments

Gamesa, the largest cookie manufacturer in Mexico, was forced to redesign their packaging because Mexican Americans and Mexican Immigrants in the U.S. tend to gravitate away from Mexican products over time as they assimilate into American culture. The reason? Such consumers expect better branding and packaging than Mexican companies traditionally offer. Carlos Fuentes of UNO, the Hispanic design and promotion agency that executed the Gamesa packaging project, advises that Mexican businesses must adapt to the shifting buying patterns and expectations of their customers in the U.S.
—or lose them.

Denise Fornberg
Marketing Coordinator,
BOORA Architects

"Comfortable interpersonal and networking skills, solid strategic thinking and confident public speaking abilities are all qualities of good marketers."

Marketer Profile
Denise Fornberg, Boora Architects

Current job/position:
Marketing Coordinator at BOORA Architects.

Main job responsibility: Marketing and business development for architectural design services.

First marketing (or marketing-related) job:
In eighth grade I ran for student-body president of the private elementary school I attended in Annapolis, Maryland. Marketing myself to my peers was terrifying, exciting and stressful all at the same time. It involved such an intense effort (especially the public speaking!), but the rewards were great—I found I had a knack for connecting with my fellow students and I enjoyed creating the graphics and core message for my campaign. I still feel the thrill of winning the election every time we win a new project.

When Good Colors Go Bad
Olympic Logo Causes Major Eye Strain
The logo for the 2012 Olympic games in London already has people ready to torch it. Animated video based on the recently revealed logo—which cost the London Games Organizing Committee the equivalent of around $1 million—has caused some viewers to experience epileptic seizures.

As result, many Londoners are demanding that the logo be scrapped. While the video has been edited, the committee has already decided that such a response is “not an option.”

Former Olympic gold medalist Lord Coe stands by the brightly colored design. It must be noted that Coe himself is color-blind. What may be even more ironic is the fact that the logo will also be used for the Paralympics Games—which include athletes with disabilities, including epilepsy.

If you look long enough, you can see the numbers "2012."
The Malibu Barbie color palette is eye-catching, but the highly sylized numbers are distracting.
